THE BAND
LOAD "BIOS.DAT"
Sun Daddy is a Chicago blues band built on blood and tradition. Two fathers. Two sons. Four musicians steeped in the deep roots of Chicago's legendary blues scene — from the smoky South Side clubs to the electric energy of Maxwell Street. Their combined pedigree stretches back through decades of jamming with legends like Muddy Waters, Luther Allison, and Howlin' Wolf's own bassist Andrew "Blueblood" McMahon. This is the real deal — authentic Chicago blues passed down from one generation to the next, just like Muddy's own historic "Fathers and Sons" sessions. Sun Daddy keeps that flame alive.
★ FATHER
PHIL "PAPA BLUE" URBAN
Guitar & Harmonica
Multi-instrumentalist, master carpenter, and a true Chicago blues lifer. Phil "Papa Blue" Urban has been deep in the city's blues trenches for decades, wielding both guitar and harmonica with the kind of authority that only comes from years of woodshedding on the West and South sides. He jammed with the legendary Muddy Waters — the undisputed father of Chicago electric blues — connecting him directly to the genre's most sacred lineage. Papa Blue has been a fixture across multiple Chicago bands including Blue Garage, the Crooks, Between the Clear, and 4Ever Changing — each one forged in the city's relentless live music crucible. Whether he's bending strings or wailing on the harp, Phil brings a raw, uncut authenticity that channels the spirit of the masters he learned from.

★ SON
JEFF URBAN
Bass Guitar
The low-end anchor of Sun Daddy. Jeff Urban lays down the kind of deep, driving bass lines that form the backbone of every great blues band. A member and co-founder of the legendary Chicago band "Teed" (also known as Thinner Teed), Jeff earned his stripes in the city's rock and blues underground before bringing that heavy pocket to Sun Daddy. His playing bridges the muscular groove of classic Chicago rhythm sections — think Willie Dixon, Dave Myers, and the tradition of bass players who made the shuffle swing and the slow blues ache. In Sun Daddy, Jeff locks in with his father Phil to form a father-son musical connection that's as tight as it is rare.

★ FATHER
PAUL "CHICAGOBLUESMAN" PARELLO SR.
Drums
The heartbeat of Sun Daddy and a walking encyclopedia of Chicago blues. Paul "ChicagoBluesman" Parello Sr. co-founded Liquid Chrome — the high-energy blues act that also launched Blues Hall of Fame artist J.B. Ritchie's career. Through Liquid Chrome and beyond, Paul shared stages and studio time with some of the most important names in the genre. He played gigs with Luther Allison — the incendiary guitarist who was called "the Jimi Hendrix of blues guitar" by the Chicago Reader and who is a posthumous Blues Hall of Fame inductee. He performed alongside Andrew "Blueblood" McMahon, the bass guitarist who anchored Howlin' Wolf's band for over a decade and played on classics like "Killing Floor." He gigged with Eddie Taylor Sr., the Mississippi-born architect of the Chicago blues sound who powered Jimmy Reed's legendary Vee-Jay recordings. Paul also played with Blues Hall of Fame guitarist J.B. Ritchie, a fellow Liquid Chrome alumnus known as "that wicked slide player" who performed at the Chicago Blues Festival, the Aragon Ballroom, and Buddy Guy's Legends. Beyond performing, Paul serves as the host of "Paul Parello's Blues Power", a radio and TV show dedicated to keeping the blues alive and bringing the music to new audiences.

★ SON
PAUL PARELLO JR.
Guitar
The next generation of Chicago blues guitar. Paul Parello Jr. grew up surrounded by the music — with a father who drummed alongside legends, the blues was literally in the house. He honed his chops with "Short Attention Span" before joining forces with his dad and the Urban family to form Sun Daddy. Paul Jr. brings a fresh energy to the band's sound, blending the classic tones he absorbed growing up in a blues household with the fire of a young player eager to push the music forward. Like his father, he carries the Chicago blues tradition in his blood — and on the bandstand, the two Parellos create a rhythmic foundation that's locked in tight from years of playing under the same roof.
